How the Renovation Process Works
Making the Design, Drawing the Plans, and Getting City Approval
Every home renovation or large remodeling project starts with a dream. You close your eyes and see yourself inhabiting a space that only exists in your mind. Everything is perfect, just the way you want it. All the things that annoy you about your current space are non-existent. It might not be a clear vision, but the feeling is there. You know exactly what you want and you’re trying to figure out what it looks like. That’s where Donna comes in.
Donna is our all-star designer and she will help you work out how to turn the vision in your mind into a working design allowing you to see what the finished space will look like before one sledgehammer is swung. With Donna’s working design, Eli, our general contractor, will work with architects and engineers to get the plans approved by the city in order to acquire the necessary permits and get the green light to complete the renovation.
Changing Layouts, Moving Walls, and Removing Walls
Oftentimes we will completely change how you navigate through your living space. The age of open concepts is upon us and a lot of us like the feeling we get when we are able to be in multiple rooms at once. It gives the family a chance to spend time together while enjoying different activities.
Efficiency is also a factor here. Times have changed and the way people live has changed. Updating our homes to fit our modern lifestyle is a key part of what we do as a design/build firm.
Electrical and Plumbing Systems to Match Your New Home Design
Almost always, we need to move electrical and plumbing fixtures to accommodate the new design layout. Our master plumbing trades are ready to go when it comes time to move the technical parts of the project.
We always aim to look ahead and build for the future. Preparing electrical and water systems for future use and including internet networking and smart home features are a common choice of our clients.
The Way Your New Space Looks and Feels
The Color of Paint Effects The Mood and Tone of Your Home
The colors of materials that go into your new living space will greatly impact the way you feel as you go through your day-to-day life. That’s why we rely on the keen design-eyes of Donna to make sure everything flows and provides the desired effect and feeling you desire. The walls will often be painted early in the process before the cabinets go up. Touch-ups will be done later as necessary.
Kitchen Cabinets, Vanities, and Entertainment Centers
The cabinets will be delivered in carefully packaged boxes. Our carpenters will take the checklist and check through each box to make sure the cabinets are the correct shapes and sizes and also make sure they’re not damaged. When it’s time to install them, you’ll be amazed at how fast it goes. One minute your walls in your kitchen are bare. A few hours later, the room has been transformed into a kitchen! It’s always fun to see.
Countertops and Backsplashes for Kitchens & Bathrooms
Once the cabinets are installed, the countertop company will send a technician to take a careful laser-guided measurement. He’ll take that measurement back to the factory to cut the stone in the exact shapes and sizes that will fit your home. Once they come back and secure the countertops in place, the tile installer will install your backsplash. This is where things really start to come together.
Flooring That’s Right for Each Room in the House
Flooring doesn’t only need to look great, but it needs to hold up to the abuse it’s surely going to receive from your day-to-day life. Dropping things, dogs running around, and spilling liquids are only a few of the challenges your floor must be facing so we’ll take special care when choosing the materials and construction methods for each room. Our experience working with all types of materials will ensure you don’t end up looking at scratches or discoloration.
